Today I learned more...

Today, I learned more about a site called wiffiti.  www.wiffiti.com Thanks to a colleague of mine, Patrick Allegra.

I can see many different uses for this site in the classroom; in fact I will present this site to my class later today.  We will be developing commercial ideas and mind mapping using Inspiration, but first we are going to use wiffiti to brainstorm commercial products that the students will be able to use for their next project.

What is exciting is that I have no idea how the students are going to respond!  While that might be nervous to some, I often like to explore and throw out new ideas to see how they respond.   I have a feeling that they are going to enjoy the exercise and learn how to brainstorm on a creative level.

I have ideas about using this site during athletics – Senior night I will project my wiffiti screen so that family and friends that cannot be there will be able to share thoughts and memories.  The senior night will be streamed live, thus giving the followers an idea when their “senior” is being introduced.

Today I learned more – tomorrow will bring some new creative ideas – I cannot wait!

Excited about social media in athletics

I have noticed that I am picking up more followers by tweeting the athletic events at Holy Innocents'.  I often take twitpic's of the action and relay score updates to my followers.  This is a great way to share events to the people who could not attend the event.  While this is not "new" to everyone - it is new to the campus of HIES.

Also, people ask, "what are you doing?" and I tell them I am tweeting, this gives me a opportunity to explain the benefits of Twitter.

What this blog will be about

I wanted to start a blog for a few reasons:

1.  To share my findings about technology and athletics
2.  To expand my knowledge and pay it forward to people that are interested

I am in the process of gathering information for my first article on technology in athletics.  So if you have stories to share, feel free to contact me!
